Mere Forest & Allotment Charities
Notice
The names of applications of the above Charities will not be able to take place in the hall this year. All existing applicants will receive a letter before the end of October explaining the procedure for this year. If you have not had a letter by the 31st October please contact the secretary Carolyn Loosen via email mereforest@gmail.com or 07395 518079.
New applicants for this annual distribution can collect an application form from Walton’s front counter to be returned to the secretary before Friday 4th November 2023.
Rules
- There shall be an unbroken residence of 10 years in the Parish of Mere or Zeals prior to the 30th September 2023, before the applicant becomes eligible for the charity.
- Special consideration will be given to persons living alone.
- No person who is in receipt of Retirement Pension and who continues to be gainfully employed, full or part time, shall be considered for a share in the Charities.
Note
The Charity was left solely for the purpose of “relieving the poor inhabitants of Mere and Zeals” and the Trustees have power to refuse application BUT they are prepared to consider at any time, any applicant who is in extreme need, whether the above Rules apply or not. They hope, therefore, that persons, who are not really in need, will refrain from applying for Charity.
